    LINQ for XPO ?

    What is the status quo?
Is it fully implemented or not?
Not much talk about it lately...

BTW, if you are currently learning LINQ, this is ultra cool:

"Of course we will update our LINQ support. I can't tell you anything more at this time because the dev who's working on that is currently on vacation, but I'm sure it'll come soon."

I think "soon" needs to be re-defined ;-)

    Ok, I've read it.
It's a KB article with some examples.
But I am still missing a statement from DX which says:

"LINQ to XPO is fully implemented and supported."

    DX?
    Can't see this anywhere...

    :-)

Or: the dev who's working on that is still on vacation ;-)
Or: the dev who was working on that didn't return from vacation and got fired ;-)

The article I linked specifically states:

"XPO officially supports LINQ since v7.3. This article provides several sample queries to help you get started with LINQ to XPO."

I see, you're looking for the word, "fully". Not even Microsoft can make that claim...community member Miha Markič has an interesting article here: http://cs.rthand.com/blogs/blog_with_righthand/archive/2007/10/06/LINQ-to-SQL-showstoppers.aspx

OK, I give up on "fully" ;-)

Is is implemented and supported - fully? What's that? Are you missing anything specifically?

Distinct, for example, doesn't work in XPQuery.

    1) I did not say that I'm missing anything, because I did not yet try it.
    2) I only asked out of interest, because I never saw any announcement whether LINQ is supported in XPO or not.
    3) A KB article is not the right place to publish/announce releases.
    4) Someday I will be interested in using LINQ with XPO because XPO currently has no acceptable query language.
    5) "Someday" means that I can't use LINQ right now, because many of my (corporate) customers still use W2K, on which .NET 3.5 will not run. So you have some time left, in case your LINQ implementation is not yet finished ;-)

    Re: LINQ for XPO ?

    Hello Robert,

You can use XPO+Linq with .NET 2.0. I've just tried that today.

How to use ORM (XPO), IoC, C# 3.5 syntax, Linq and .NET 2.0 together?

    With best regards,

    why not? Oliver?

Oliver, did you happen to read these blog series

Might be interesting for you, despite being written by a competitor ;-)
