1001 DevExpress Tales

We're quite excited about the completion of the first DevExpress Book "Professional DevExpress ASP.NET Controls", and the timing couldn't be better as we took delivery of the first 2 palette loads right as we were putting together boxes of DevExpress t-shirts and caps to send to PDC to give away from our booth. Look at all these boxes of books lurking deep inside our PDC booth.

We are giving away all 1000 books from this first load to PDC attendees from our booth.  If you are at PDC swing by and get your own copy, and if you meet up with some of the authors they'll be glad to sign your copy if you want.

Here is Paul Kimmel, one of the authors posing with the 1001st and by far the largest copy of the book.  Not all of the books are so large.

If you can't make it to PDC, you can also find the book on Amazon.

BTW: If you happen to have the VCL platform subscription, by a quirk of Delphi IDE history, you also have our ASPx controls.

Paul - you've lost some weight since the picture was taken for the book, was it that stressful?

is it any good for me? can I use it as a reference of options and possibilities?

Thank you.

@MB Sorry it's only for our ASP.NET controls.  You could only use them with a first class .NET language which would include Delphi Prism though all our examples in the book are naturally C# or VB.  If this book is popular we'll consider developing more, although I'm afraid there isn't much demand in the market for Delphi books on any subject.

Isn't everything in the book already covered in the help files and the community forums?

I'm a big fan of giving customers multiple ways to find information.  Some just prefer to get their information from books, and some like to study from places where it would be inappropriate to go online, and for some just knowing there is a book out there when they need it lowers the BAF (Boss Acceptance Factor).

@Birger: Most things in the book are covered in help topics, but using completely different examples and text with the hope that one or the other approaches gets you up to speed as quickly as possible.
