Business Logic in XAF

XAFBusLog

At the end of the previous video Oliver and I were off to try and sell our super dooper blogging system to the highest bidder, tune in to this video to see how that worked out for us (hint: we’re here doing another video!). Anyway, in this video we look at where business logic should be implemented in an XAF application and where that logic should be called from.

Does the planned workflow module include data driven business rules with a rule editor and an engine?

That would be the ultimate IMO

Mohsen -

That's a very short description for a complex question :-) But I think the answer is yes... it's based on Windows Workflow Foundation, so there's your rule editor and engine for a start. More on this probably during the 8.3 development cycle.

will it be possible for the end-user to manipulate the workflow or is this compile-time only?

please, provide a link to downlad the videos or provide a better player

if you try to go forward to a point that still is not loaded the player stops, hangs,  and has to reloaded again from the begginging (tested in firefox 3 and ie 7)

I'd like to skip half of the video just to see if the content will be interesting and then return to the beggining if the content worth it.

thanks!

A lot of blahblah in this video.

I thought this to be the intro to a real example.

Where is it?

This was a wonderful video and very timely.  I think that it is appropriate to share conceptual and bigger picture scenarios regarding the expansion of XAF functionality.

Please put my vote in for WF integration ASAP.

In the meantime, I would be very interested to hear more about how we can create helper classes that will later migrate to tasks associated with WFs.  . . . perhaps adding a couple examples in MainDemo.

I am particularly interesting in knowing which events/classes/methods should be combined with reusable BO and UI Helper Classes based on runtime (instantiated) Views, BOs and Actions.

There are usually several possible ways to code a solution because we work within a very rich, robust MS/DX environment.  Having your direction on best practices and alignment with future enhancements increases the future value of our current work.

Hi Oliver and Hary

Excellent video! I watched all videos about XAF and perhaps this one is the most important for me! I think that learning 'concepts' and 'best practices' are extremely important. I'm not an experienced programmer, and I am very interested in creating XAFApps using 'Best Practices'. Now that you taught us the concepts, you could provide us a new video (or at least, a simple XAF Application) to show us 'how to' put all these concepts(BO, BL, Helper Classes, Collaborator,) in practice. I think that it is important for us to create (now) our applications prepared to take advantage of new features that XAF will offer in future like Workflow. I really hope you accept my suggestion!

Thank you!

Ruy
