New video: Data Analysis with the XtraPivotGrid and XtraCharts in XAF 8.2

Another great new XAF feature in 8.2 is the "PivotChart" module. It combines the functionality of our XtraPivotGrid and the XtraCharts to allow the end user to create data analysis views in the format of an interactive Pivot table and/or a chart. If you haven't installed the 8.2 RC yet, be sure to have a look at this to see what's in store for you!

Hi Oliver,

Excellent new feature. Will we have runtime access to the full set of pivot grid features (many of which I am probably unaware of)? Features that come to mind include the ability to create new pivot grid columns (so we can add month / quarter etc.) and set up pivot groups?

Currently several features of the XtraPivotGrid can't be configured by the end user at runtime. We've talked about this internally - especially groups are a pretty important feature and I hope we'll be able to support them soon. Meanwhile, you would have to do these things from code, I'm afraid - shouldn't be too hard from a controller, but runtime customization will be limited.

Hilarious! You two make a good team. I don't use XAF, but it was an interesting peep at the technology.

Interesting - I went years with virtually no vs crashes and now I get them most days and I have nothing other than DX installed on vs2008. They make me do something out loud but it isn't laugh ;-) Feels like Delphi all over again...

I have to say, the matter with VS 2008 crashes is pretty weird - and of course I would say that, but it doesn't seem to have to do with DX tools, or anything else I can understand, for that matter. It seems that (a) it happens more on some machines than it does on others and (b) sometimes it happens several times within a few minutes and then never again for the next two weeks.
