Reporting in the Azure Platform (Coming in v2010 vol 2)

AzureYou asked, we listened! We've addressed the issues with using our Reporting Suite on Azure and fixed them in the 10.2 version. Our reports will work even under a medium-trust environment (with a few caveats). Under a full-trust setting, everything should work famously!

Do you use our fabulous tools in conjunction with the Azure Platform? Let me know! I’d love to take a look at your application!

As always, if there are any questions and/or comments feel free to get a hold of me!

Hi Seth,

Your post is a bit vague and the description at the Issue Center you referred to does not provide details on what problems in Azure you had. I've stumbled upon this post few months ago (www.kevgriffin.com/.../word-of-warning-for-people-using-3rd-party-reporting-tools-in-azure) where someone from your team replies that everything is fine and dandy in latest release. Kevin (the author) clearly points what the problems in Azure are - export to PDF and Excel. Can you confirm in plain text that export to PDF and Excel would work in your latest reporting version?

@David: We made some corrections to the 10.2 release which makes our reporting tools a viable option even in medium trust (with the caveats linked above). I hope this helps! If not shoot me an email so we can take a look at your particular solution.

My "particular solution" is whether I would be able to export to PDF/Excel in Azure Cloud with 10.2 release. I need a simple answer: Yes or No.

Hi David,

The answer is "Yes" - export to PDF and XLS will be possible with XtraReports v2010 vol 2.

Regarding export to PDF, please take into account this limitation for the Medium Trust permission level:

"if you want your fonts to be embedded into a resulting PDF file, note that only English characters are properly embedded (i.e. only character codes from 32 to 255 will be properly embedded under Medium Trust)."

The full list of limitations is available here: help.devexpress.com

Hey guys,

Thanks for getting an report option into LightSwitch, this will help me a lot.

Only...

Did anyone of you tried to deploy it into a Azure environment from the standard Lightswitch Deployment options?

I did try, but i get an error :  System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Client.DomainOperationException.

Am i missing an assembly?
