  • Interview with Ayende Rahien (aka Oren Eini)

Woody and I recently got to spend some time in Dallas for the inaugural Dallas Day of .NET. It was a wonderful two days of learning new techniques, mastering our coding skills, and making new friends. It was great to meet everyone and share a bit!

We took a bit of time to catch up with the ever-blogging Ayende Rahien (Oren Eini) to chat a bit about what has been going on.

    OrenEini

    Here is what we discussed:

    1. Where did the name Ayende come from? (Prison Time)
    2. Sessions he gave in the Dallas Day of .NET
    3. What is Oren working on? (think RaveDB, Silverlight, Replication, Phone 7)
    4. Commit = Production Deployment?!?!?!
    5. Repository Pattern is a series of nonsense wrappers
    6. Why does Oren like Rhinos? (or Penguins?)
    7. How does Oren blog so much?

It was great of him to lend us some of his time during his busy schedule here in the States. Recently he’s also spent some time with us chatting up RavenDB and document based systems:

    1. Chatting about RavenDB with Ayende Rahien
    2. Building Document Based Systems

    Enjoy the wisdom!

  • Reporting with the LLBLGen Pro Runtime Framework Webinar (with Frans Bouma, March 8th 10AM PST)

On Tuesday March 8th at 10AM PST we are proud to welcome Frans Bouma presenting his popular ORM tool called LLBLGen Pro. His Lower Level Business logic Layer Generator is a fantastic for creating persistence layers either directly from the database (DB First) or on the design surface (Model First):

The second thing which makes this such a powerful tool is the ability to target multiple frameworks1:

    Targetting Multiple Frameworks Using LLBLGen

Before the advent of XPO, I personally used his ORM in conjunction with the DevExpress tools. Frans and I decided to show you how to use the code generated by this great tool within the DevExpress Reporting Framework. It turns out that it works like a charm. We invite you to take a look:

    1. I am indeed aware that XPO is not in that list. I will try real hard to fix that by the 11.1 release ;)
