Hans, there are 2 solutions here:

1) you keep a version of the layout and if you change the layout you do not load the user-defined settings;

2) LayoutControl should somehow know that some items are new and should not be removed from the layout, but in this case where does LayoutControl should put these new items? It still has to restore the user-defined layout. It can put them at the end of their corresponding groups.

What do you think?

So in case of newly added controls by the programmer, the end-user won't know about these changes, until he opens the 'layout designer'? Seems confusing to me for the end-user.

Anthony, if loaded layout does not contain these new fields then they will be moved to the available items list. Then the end-user will be able to drag&drop them to the location he wants.

The next update of DXperience 2010.2 should be, as usual, in about a month from the last update - so it will be around end of January/beginning of February.

Excellent work, how will that handle new controls added after the layout is customised? for example new fields added as per user request in a new version, or new fields added by code? What will happen to them after an older xml layout is loaded?

Looking forward to this release already :) When is it scheduled for?

In the initial release of DXperience v2010 vol 2 we provided the ability to hide/show items in LayoutControl

Yes, thanks for building this WPF/SL control, it looks wonderful.

Keep them coming to cover all the Winform Controls with WPF and SL.

It would be interesting to read a blog post that describes the benefits of the WPF LayoutControl over the XtraLayout.

There might be only a few small benefits, but still would be worth mentioning.
