DevExpress Controls in a Real World Application

Blue-Print

Showcasing the power and features of any software product is best achieved using a real world application of said product. This can apply to Components, Developer Tools, or even retail consumer products. So we all know how great and feature-complete Developer Express components are and thanks to their simplicity, just looking at the documentation or any one of our tutorial videos on the DevExpress Channel can give you an idea of how easily they can be implemented in real-world projects. However, just like everything else we do, we want to take this a step further and demo our products in a real-world application designed from the ground up.

I won’t give away too much information, but this project will demonstrate the use of nearly all of our ASP.NET and WinForms Controls as well as the ORM Tool (eXpress Persistent Objects). We will start with a series of introductions to familiarize you with its architecture and using both blog posts and tutorial videos we’ll walk you through the steps of building this application from beginning to the end.

So, keep watching our blogs and the DevExpress Channel this week for more updates. :-)

Hiya Emil,

A bunch of us are kinda wondering if the RWA will include XAF?

In not, why?

I really like this idea plus getting other people to show what they have produced themselves like in Harry's new post. This kind of thing gives me new UI ideas.

@Garth: Absolutely +1

Seems like XAF is the perfect vehicle for this with it being an application framework. Plus XAF is desperately in need of an RWA to show interested parties just how good it is...

Awesome!

I would really, really, really love to see a "real world" ASP.NET AJAX Web App utilizing an XPO!  That would rock me like a hurricane!

Garth: Not initially. Our initial objective was to produce a RWA that showed off how to develop with our controls since there are more customers in that situation than have XAF. More than that we wanted to show off and video the design choices that were made as we developed the application. More than that -- given our history of over-promising and under-delivering on this topic -- we wanted to use an outside source to develop it.

It's likely -- but don't quote me on this -- that we will replicate it with XAF once it's complete.

Very Good, we will be waiting for this fantastic idea.

but i was wondering about the Road Map for 2009 for DevExpress products and whether it will include RTL (Right-To-Left) support.

Wow, sounds like we just might get the best of both worlds! =)
