Real World Application – DX Airways

It’s here! If you recall my blog post from last week, I announced that we will start building a Real World Application (well, more like one that performs tasks similar to a real world application). For this project, nearly every DevExpress WinForms and ASP.NET components will be utilized. Additionally, we’ll use XPO – our ORM Tool – to provide the data access layer of the application.

First, we’ll give you a thorough architectural overview of what is going to be built. This will be covered in four introductory videos that will be published first to familiarize yourself with the project.

To kick off the series, we have published the first video that gives an architectural overview of all parts of the application. So click here or on the image to go check it out on the DevExpress Channel!

Sorry to hear XAF is not an included technology. I understand though, most DX users don't have it.

The RWA is great for us to see but just as important it's good for DX to build an app with their own components to get experience with what we see, experience, etc.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this DX-Airlines properly handles timezone integration as an airline has to properly handle time zones with flight information.  The XtraScheduler is my focus on timezone handling as that's what I'm getting ready (finally) to implement.

I am really excited to see this in action. I hope DX has added a dashboard to the app.

Since this is a Real World app, will it implement Unit Tests - or even better, TDD?

Hi Alan,

Yes, it will implement Unit Tests. However, we may not fully take the TDD approach.

Emil.
