  • XAF, Licensing, and the New DXperience Universal SKU

In the next few hours, we will officially launch eXpressAppFramework. The purpose of this post is to clarify licensing terms and announce our newest subscription option, DXperience Universal.

    First, a word about licensing.

I'll make this one short and sweet. Like our components, if you own a license to XAF, you can distribute solutions you build with it royalty free. Our license agreement describes the rules by which we grant a license, so please refer to it for clarification.

    DXperience Universal

With the release of eXpressApp Framework, we've created a new subscription option - DXperience Universal. Priced at $1999.99 for the first year, and $799.99 for renewal years (renewal is of course optional), DXperience Universal will include all products/tools/services available within DXperience Enterprise along with eXpressApp Framework. Because eXpressApp Framework is reliant on so many different Developer Express technologies, it cannot be purchased individually and we felt the most straightforward licensing solution would be to include it in this new SKU. In the coming months, we will be adding additional services within the DXperience Universal subscription but at this time, I want to state clearly that the only difference between DXperience Enterprise and DXperience Universal is the inclusion of eXpressApp Framework.

    Active DXperience Enterprise Customers

If you currently own DXperience Enterprise and if that license has not expired, you will receive a free one year license to eXpressApp Framework. At the time of renewal of your DXperience Enterprise license, we will offer you the option to upgrade to DXperience Universal (the current renewal cost for DXperience Enterprise is $499.99 so to upgrade to DXperience Universal, you'll be asked to pay $799.99 instead). If you choose not to renew your license or to upgrade to the Universal SKU, you are free to use any of the products for which you were licensed - as long as you so desire (this applies to any Developer Express subscription).

If you have any questions about all of this, feel free to ask.

  • Our XAF based application - with the Xmas Skin

Nathaniel's post on our forums - showing how he's using the new holiday skin - made me want to post a screenshot of our own internal Cliet/Support/Sales management application (which was built using eXpressApp Framework).

    So...here it is

    DX Xmas Skin

We have the wonders of coffee to thank for this idea. It was late one night and we were driving to LA. Andrew, Mike, and I had to stop for some coffee at an infamous coffee house. It was right after Thanksgiving so the store was plastered with holiday decorations and Mike suggested that it might fun to do the same for an application...
