Thinking Out Loud

WinForms Gantt View (coming in v2011 vol 2)

Hot off the press - I wanted to share an early preview of our WinForms Gantt View (part of the WinForms Scheduler Suite) with all of our loyal WinForms users. I know many of you have been patiently waiting for this control and hopefully you'll be satisfied with our implementation once it's released. This is not the sexiest screenshot in the world, since the skins associated with the Gantt Control are not ready...but it should give you an idea of what to expect from DevExpress in Q4 2011.

WinForms Gantt Control

We will be showcasing this control along with many others at the BUILD WINDOWS Conference in Anaheim. Stop by booth #28 to learn more about updates to our WinForms product line in the upcoming release of DXperience v2011 vol 2.

I am simply enjoying it!

I've been asking for this control many years ago and finally here it is.

Well I smell another XAF list editor..

The screenshot looks nice, but a lot is not visible/missing on it to be a workable Gantt. What about progress bars, custom images (about everywhere), multicolumn in the task description, ...

I'm sure a lot more is possible than shown in this preview. My hunger for this control is really, really big!

Thx DX, finally!!!

I have been interested in using a Gantt. This certainly does provide yet another avenue to add value to our applications. Thanks again DX

Sigurd...multiple columns will be there. The other suggestions will also be made available but not in the initial release. Thanks for reading and your feedback.

Ray: thx for the multicolumn. About progress bars and images... can we draw them ourselves? Are there events in place to do this?

Thanks for this - it is the last link into the specifications I set myself for a task editor and link it into the scheduling module in .NET - although it was already available in VCL it would have been far too much work to reinvent the wheel in .NET so thanks for this. I'm eagerly awaiting the evenutal release - so are the users of my application module! - David

This would be a great function to implement automatic job chaining - maybe you can implement something like a conditional link based on the state of the predecessor or grouping of predecessors ;-) ... Many thanks in advance

Btw - as so many people need same/similar functions it would be great to enhance your site by an "open source" codeshare libary ...

Hi, when multiple columns added, can images used instead of Text for data in columns? And will there be a Filter bar for the multiple columns Task list? Thanks

Another question about the time-scale, can it zoom to Minutes/Seconds?
