Thinking Out Loud

Metro Style WinForms Skin (coming soon in v2011 vol 2)

So we need your help - we've got this brand new shiny WinForms Skin in the works and we're not sure what we should call it. Give us your thoughts and the person who suggests the best name for this new Metro-like or Zune-like (fill in the blank) Skin, will get a shipment of swag from us.

Here it is....Enjoy and remember to spread the good word...no one comes close to DevExpress when it comes to our support of the WinForms platform.

Note: These images were captured from our Video Rental Demo which ships as part of the DXperience distribution.

Firstly that skin is looking amazing, love it.

As for a name well

You could call it "Ikea" as it is a flat pack skin right? ;)

"Clean and Clear" bit wordy

"Null Chrome"

"Billboard" (as in clear and concise like a billboard)

Thats it for now, but seriously that is a nice looking skin.

How about  a shipment of swag for the guy who suggested this skin in SC?

So you want a name too?

Call it "Subway" (Metro is the Subway in Paris).

Nice skin! And very ... BUILD.  And in honour of the new word of BUILD, how about 'MetroFi'?

I think the name "Metro" may be misleading, as it certainly won't magically provide a true Metro UI experience...

You already have a skin called "Seven"... how about calling this one "Eight"?

Sigurd Decroos said:

'Metro' is green, so that doesn't go I think.

Because it is mainly white with some colours, you could call it 'ICE' or 'Snow' or 'Sugar' or 'Back To Basics' or 'Rudimentary' or 'Blond' or 'Cocos' or ' something like that :).

I like @Roberts subway the other options in the same vane are "tube" or "underground" both London.

I thought Metropolis would be quite good too although the skin reminds me more of Zune than Metro.

Personally  I hate metro! I wish MS had chosen something more colorful with dimension. Circles with overly simple and sometime unrecognizable symbols just don't do it for me. Just my 2 cents.
