Thinking Out Loud

WinForms QR Code BarCode Type (coming soon in v2011 vol 2)

As you all know QR (Quick Response) Code is a popular two-dimensional matrix barcode that consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. With the release of DXperience v2011 vol 2, QR Code support will be included as part of our WinForms Reporting platform.

WinForms QRCode

As you might expect - the information encoded with a QRCode can include text, URL or other business specific data and and can be used in both commercial tracking applications and marketing campaigns aimed at mobile phone users.

Thanks, this was about time.

While we are at it: Why don't you support Barcodes in your XtraRichEdit control???

Robert, if we did everything you wanted us to do in one release, we'd have to shut our doors :-)

The good news is that the RichEdit can do this very thing and Azret has blogged about it here: http://devexpress.com/azret

Now, have you told all your friends how awsome our WinForms Controls are? :-)

I have seen this blog post, and also this: " ... don’t enable this for your users just yet..."

As long as its DevExpress - then it's all good :-)

You can do this right now - anything that is an image. Azret meant that there is clean up work to be done, but there's nothing holding you back from doing what he did.

When will there be an editor for barcodes on WinForms? Now it is limited to the reports, which is a shame. You have all the knowledge...

Sigurd, if you need BarCodes for WinForms right now... you can follow my example from RichEdit or contact me directly and I'll help you. Moving them out of reports is on our todo Sigurd :)

Thx Azret! We use another 3rd party component for the moment to achieve this, which is of course stupid and expensive. Happy to know it is on the ToDo... Hopefully for 11.2 :).
