Here is a user that would really love support to choose a "base skin"!

So, I just wanted to add my vote.

    Hi Seth,

In the script's current form, there's no support for using different base skins.  It would not be very difficult to add the functionality, but it would be a little time consuming.  I would need to refactor the script to support any skin based on some simple metadata that describes the elements in the skin, which files to color and the parts of the files to color, and what to change in the skin.xml file.  Then, I'd need to create the Photoshop image files for the new skin and create the metadata for both skins.

I've listed this feature as a future enhancement.  If I hear enough people asking for different skins, I'll think about investing the time.  I've been anticipating this question, but you're the first. :)  Which skin were you thinking about?

    Corey,

I'm pretty impartial to the Office-type skins myself, although I probably spend most of my time in Caramel-land.  I just love the idea of being able to tweak the color schemes because I'm a firm believer in the eye-candy the skins bring to the table.

I'm far from a "graphics" guy but I do actually own a copy of Photoshop (obviously).  If there was some grunt work that a graphically-challenged guy like myself could do to help the process, I'm more than happy to throw my hat in the ring.

Thanks to everyone who has left feedback.  I appreciate it.

Given that the skins are version independent, I could see extending the script to support various skins as a worthwhile endeavor.  I've decided to make the necessary modifications.  As for when this might be available, it's hard to say.  I'll be doing the work in my spare time and with the holidays upon us, I can't make any promises.  Maybe it will be done in time for Christmas. :)  We'll see.

Seth, when I get to the point where I'm working on the actual image files of a new skin, I'll get in touch with you.  Thanks for the offer of assistance.

    Take care, Corey
