    Hey guys,

    For a windows forms dotnet application; is it possible to use a grid for a horizontal stock ticker with up/down arrows? Like the ones we see on TV. Or any other controls that can help speed up things?

    I can make a user control running in an extra thread using text labels, images, and a timer or utilize scrollablecontrol with it. But a grid would be a faster and nice solution, as it would already have fixed cell widths, image support, dynamic items, data support etc.

    Thank you!

    The XtraGauges library would probably be more suited to this.

    Thank you Brendon!

    I'm currently looking at XtraGauges, is it digital gauge you are telling about? Looks like it can replace text labels in a custom user control for a better look, but I can't see if it can help further.

    You mean it wouldn't work nicely with a grid control right? Like a text line with a format;

    row1col1 : row1col2 --- row2col1 : row2col2 --- row3col1 : row3col2 --- ....

    I really can't picture what you're trying to achieve based on what you provided above. When I think of a stock ticker, I think of a scrolling digital display similar to this:

    A digital matrix-like gauge...

    ...which scrolls from right to left

    Note that both of these screen shots were taken from the XtraGauges demo.

    Oh, yes, exactly =) Thanks for your well made post.

    Yes, that's what I need. It's just that I was looking for a way to use true type fonts and bitmap images, with fixed width for each item cell. So I can;
    use red down and green up icons,
    use fine-edged true type fonts,
    smoothly scroll pixel by pixel,
    use variable width characters, and still able to update the data dynamically without changing the total width of the text (fixed width for each item cell).

    Your first post was already a good help =) Just wanted to be sure if you were telling about digital gauges. Now on a second thought, it may give close results to what I need if I relax the requirements a bit.. Hmm.. =)

    Thanks for pointing the way Brendon!
