  • Training... A Conference?

A customer recently asked a familiar question we get about training on our products. We are discussing the possiblity of a Developer Express Conference.

So, I am interested to find out from you some specifics about the training/conference that will help us better understand your needs.

If you could select only three skills or product features to master at this conference, what would they be?

    #1. _________________________

    #2. _________________________

    #3. _________________________

How much would you pay to attend a two-day Developer Express Conference loaded with technical content and devoted to increasing your proficiency and productivity with our components, tools, and frameworks?

    (   )  $250 - $500
    (   )  $500 - $750
    (   )  $750 - $1000

If you could attend sessions from only two tracks of the following, which two would you attend?

    [ ] Components
    [ ] Tools
    [ ] Frameworks

Would you give up a weekend to attend?

    [ ] Yes, absolutely!
    [ ] Maybe
    [ ] Never

And any other thoughts you would like to share are welcome also.

  • Visual Studio 2005 SP 1

Looks like the Visual Studio 2005 SP 1 has been released.

    Microsoft Download

As Somasegar's says in blog post:

"We released Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 earlier today.

This Service Pack addresses a range of issues that were found through customer and partner feedback as well as our own internal testing.  Many of these issues were reported by you and I thank you for taking the time to report them to us.  The release also adds a number of customer requested functionality and enhancements to some of the most common development scenarios to Visual Studio that I think you’ll find interesting and valuable.

For developers using Windows Vista we also released a beta of the Visual Studio 2005 SP1 Update for Windows Vista.

You can find out more about both of these releases here."

  • An Excellent Review...

The Review Staff over at the VB.Net Forums have posted a great review.  You can check it out here:

It covers many of our products and shows what a great value they are.

  • ASPx Products QuickStarts/Demos

So being new to the company, I am myself just getting familiar with our large product offerings.  And as I was going around the website, code and demos. I thought it would be nice to let everyone know what we currently have and find out what you would like to see. Now I did see from one of Oliver's perious posts, some requests for creating an app from the ground-up and build it using our products. I think this is a great suggestion and one I'll work towards getting you sometime in the near future.

    As for demos/screencasts/quickstarts:

For the ASPxGrid we have a psuedo-screencast that has no narration but does allow you to follow at your own pace by clicking through the screenshots. This has the advantage of not having to pause as you try to follow along at the same pace. The quickstart demostrates one of my favorite features of the ASPxGrid, the property editor that easily allows you edit the various settings of the grid. All the power of the grid in one easy place to modify.

For the ASPxControls(ASPxMenu,ASPxNavBar,ASPxPopupContro,ASPxSiteMapContro,ASPxTabControl) we have a demo that lets you test drive the controls live through our website.

Need a quickstart to create a Web Report with our XtraReports Suite? Check out Lesson 5 here:

Not sure what kind of chart you need from our XtraCharts? Try this live demo:

Anyways, this is good introduction for anyone looking to get a demo/quickstart to our ASP.Net product offerings.

  • The First 2 Weeks

After 2 weeks I am getting use to my new postion here as a Technical Evangelist at Developer Express for our ASP.Net Suite of offerings. Yes, its only 2 weeks and I'm already linking.

It is a very exciting time here as we gearing up our features for the next big release. Developer Express is taking some key steps towards improving an already great line up of components.

I hope to bring you all the latest happenings with our ASP.Net Suite as well as screencasts, demos, etc.

Let me know what you would like to see out of this ASP.Net specific blog.  I welcome and appreciate the feedback.

    Thank you,
