XAF - First SPA UI Demo (v18.2)

As you may recall, we announced XAF's new Web & Mobile development strategy based on ASP.NET Core and React in September: XAF - New SPA UI for Web & Mobile (v18.2).

Great news - you can now try our first XAF SPA UI demo.

To get started and see what is supported at this stage, please refer to the FAQ: New XAF HTML5/JavaScript SPA UI for Web & Mobile (CTP) KB Article.

To discuss our new vision, roadmap and technical requirements more effectively with the XAF community, we have created a private discussion forum - exclusively for Universal customers. Feel free to leave comments to this post, email us at xafteam@devexpress.com or submit tickets using the Support Center if you are unable to join the discussion on our forum.

Hi Denis,

How will it be using XAF SPA in older applications? Now we have an application that is on the platform WinForm XAF and we are planning to make part of it as a WebApp. Will it be done at XAF SPA?

IMHO it would be better to deploy the online demo ;)

+1 for an online demo - the screenshots look good.

Another +1 for an online demo, seems counter intuitive to have an online technology demonstrated with static screen shots...

@Stepan Lauryn: SPA UI should allow you to create Web and Mobile apps. We hope that a part of the existing data model and other cross-platform code will be reused in SPA UI. Of course, certain things and all platform-dependent code will have to be rewritten for the new client-server architecture, UI flow and controls. For more information, please check out the "Q: I already have an XAF WinForms/ASP.NET/Mobile application or reusable modules. Would I be able to use them in the SPA UI?" item in our FAQ or these forum threads: one, two, three. Feel free to ask specific questions in the forum if you require additional clarification.

@ALL: At this stage, we have not planned to publish this first demo online. The main reasons are that we have not yet performed ASP.NET Core data service optimizations for the large load and smaller screens. This is definitely a goal for future versions. For now, we would be happy to hear your feedback on the locally built app version we provided.

Had a play today - it's still quite rough, but nice and responsive.
