CodeRush for Roslyn (Preview), version 16.1.5

We’re releasing this preview of CodeRush for Roslyn (CRR) a few weeks early, because we want to get feedback on a new configuration feature before we release. It’s the CodeRush Setup Wizard, and it’s available when you first start CodeRush.

The Setup wizard guides you through important CodeRush configuration choices, and looks like this:

SetupWizardNumKeys

Each page has a Learn More link, which takes you to a video talking about the options on that page of the setup wizard.

Running the setup wizard is optional, however we highly recommend it, even for experienced CodeRush developers, especially if you’re interested in optimizing your coding efficiency (e.g., getting more code with fewer keystrokes).

You can bring up the Setup Wizard from the CodeRush menu.

The CodeRush for Roslyn preview is available on the Visual Studio Gallery. Try it and let us know what you think.

Nice way to setup many of the code rush features, sadly some of the things (structural highlighting being the best but not the only example) are lost in the small videos that you and Rory did because of the use of the dark theme.

Code Rush for Roslyn really feels like a polished product now, so much so that I have at last turned classic off.  Two things would be nice.

1) a way to persist settings across visual studio instances on different machines (shortcuts and templates).

2) a way for the number pad shortcuts to be permanently enabled, but 'know' when they couldn't be used.  In other words something akin to the way that the Surface pro knows when a keyboard is attached and is in desktop mode and when a keyboard isn't present switched to tablet / touch mode.

Two might be difficult to pull off, one I think is a necessity.

Fantastic job with the wizard.

Finally I can see easy explanations of particular options.

Great job again!

Excellent idea, I love videos and even though I have been using CodeRush for a while, it is still very intimidating trying to made changes to the tons of configurations.

I watched all available videos in the Wizard, and they look pretty good.

Dom,

Thank you for your feedback.

To migrate settings to another machine, you can use the Import/Export settings feature from the CodeRush/Support menu.

I do not fully understand your second suggestion. It would be great if you elaborate on your idea and create a separate ticket in our Support Center:
