The Final Cut - Jeff Cosby's DevExpress Blog

It's Hollywood Baby!

Hi there, my name is Jeff Cosby and I’m the newest member of the DevExpress team.  I will be running the video production department from our new office in Glendale CA.

We have a lot of very interesting things planned and I look forward to sharing some of those ideas with all of you over the coming weeks. In the meantime, if you have any requests as they relate to videos/tutorials, do let me know. I can be reached via email at “jeffc AT”

For those interested, here are a few pics of the equipment I will be using.

Hi Jeff;

Are these videos primarily for training purposes?

If yes, are these going to be like a complete series of training like what Lynda.Com or Total Training.Com offer, which covers an entire product or are they going to be bits and pieces like the videos that are on the site?

Hi Jeff,

Welcome and congratulations!

Seems that you are using latest stuff!... :)

All video tutorials are welcome.

Yes Ben,

For now we will have bits and pieces put up on the website that will help tackle specific issues with certain products, but I'm sure over time we will come up with a "series" system for our products.

Looks like great stuff, but umm, how will you run DX on that MAC?? :)

I'm very interested in the DX video training.  I'd be happy to assist or you can contact me to preview anything or if you need a customer's point of view.

Great to have you, welcome!  I cannot emphasize enough the value of video tutorials!  I look forward to seeing the results of your work!

What mic are you using by the way?

Hi Julian,

If you have net access in your trailer you might like to visit!

Hi Jeff,

XAF would benefit greatly from a series of training (and introductory marketing) videos.

Hey, now that there is video production department what about having a ChannelDX in the vein of the principle behind Channel9?

Video interviews with members of DX, talking about their job, challenges, new technologies, or even about particular uses of DX components, customer cases, what tools/utilities members of the team like to use, etc.

I like the informal approach of Channel9, even if their video quality ranges from bad to very crappy, it's not what's important.

The videos could be hosted on youtube and linked to this blog.

Anyway, just a thought that I'm sure a lot of people in the community would appreciate.

Jascha, I'll merge your two comments into one reply: I'm already booked with Jeff to do exactly that: videos for XAF explaining the basics, etc, etc. One of the principal designers for XAF and I are going to be locked in a room together and storyboards will be discussed and written, etc.

Cheers, Julian

Here's something I'd love to see - video of each refactoring that Refactor! Pro offers. Of course we'd want them in C# and VB.Net (assuming the refactoring works in both languages).
