WPF Grid Control: Cell Merging and More (Now available in v14.2)

Thinking Out Loud

Cell Merging. WPF Data Grid. Need I say more?

WPF Data Grid Cell Merging

With v14.2, you'll be able to merge neighboring cells with duplicated values by simply activating an option. If you are unfamiliar with the benefits and potential use cases for this feature, take a moment to view the following animation...hopefully it can trigger some ideas for your next project (WPF Data Grid Cell Merging). As you'll see in the animation, even with cells merged, you can still edit cell values without restriction. And of course, merged cells support all major data shaping operations including sorting, grouping and master-detail.

Conditional Formatting Enhancements

If you liked the Excel style formatting feature we shipped in v14.1, then you'll love what we have in store for v14.2. Our WPF Data Grid will soon ship with a straightforward mechanism to customize formatting rules at runtime. In a few weeks, your end-users will be able to create custom conditions by using the following dialog window.

WPF Data Grid Conditional Formatting

If you look closely at this image, you will see that it contains all formatting rules applied to the Grid. Your end-user can create new rules, delete and edit them as needed.

Built-In Check Column for Multi-Row Selection and New Multi-Row Selection Mode

Another enhancement to our WPF Grid will be a new multi-row select option. You will soon be able to activate a Checkbox column to select row values (synchronized with end-user record selection). As you'll see in the following animation, users can select multiple rows with just one click.

Additionally, a new selection style allows users to select rows without pressing the Ctrl key: selection for a row is not reset until you click the row. This selection style was designed for touch-first applications on the WPF platform.

Let us know what you think - as always, we want to hear your thoughts.
