  • NDepend's UI: DXperience to the rescue

Following on from my post on automated refactoring tools , I was going to talk a bit about how modern IDEs should be providing more analytical type services for your code, rather than the usual "here's an editor, go for it" paradigm with the only analysis being the compile. One of the analytic...

  • Perception, deception, reception

This past few work days have been up and down. It's a bit like the old joke that starts off with "I have some good news and bad news..." and then gives us the bad news, and then the good, the joke being that the good news is worse than the bad but in a different way. Well, I'm going...

  • How to easily convert your project to a new DevExpress release

When new DevExpress components are released or updated you'll need to convert your Visual Studio project to use the new release. The simplest and easiest way to convert it is to use the DevExpress Project Converter tool. The Project Converter exe is in "Program Files/Developer Express/"...

  • On relativity

I read this hilarious piece the other day on explaining Einstein's theory of relativity using words of four letters or less. That, and a couple of posts I made in our forums about XPO, got me thinking about our customers' perceptions of how we improve and maintain our products. So in the spirit...

  • Integrating products in DXperience

Recently Tony in our XtraScheduler team came to the management team with an interesting proposition. With our XtraScheduler product, we ship a very basic AppointmentEdit form. Since the scheduler ships with the XtraEditors library, we designed the form to use just the editor controls so that all owners...

  • Naming conventions Dx and .Net

I was wondering what people were doing in terms of naming conventions for DxControls in .Net. I find myself generally wanting to know keep things somewhat relatable between say a gridview, a column, and then the associated repositoryItem. I.e. GridView1, colCustomerName1, riCustomerName1. The "1"...

  • Developer Express Release Notes Viewer

If anybody is interested, I have written a tool that will parse the Developer Express release notes and display them in a grid so that you can filter, sort, group, etc them. I would love it if DevEx provided support for something like this on their website, but in the meantime, this tool is pretty handy...
