Hi Harry

I downloaded this new release even though currently I am not having any problems with the controls I am using.  Since upgrading in the past has been such a painful experience in the past, I don't like doing it unless I have to.

Anyway, I was interested in seeing the four new themes, but I must say that I am extremely disappointed.  It seems to me that you've taken some steps backward now.

I had a bit of a discussion with tech support about the lack of background images, and they suggested I leave a comment here because "no one has [had negative comments]."  Anyway, refer to Q298408 to see my comments.

The bottom line is this: Without background artwork, the skins seem to be pointless to me.  Changing a few colors here and there on the controls is like changing the color of trim in a room without changing the wall colors.  What's the point?  If there hadn't been background images with the skins before, I would never have gone through the work of implementing themes.

Today I also thought about looking for anyone online that writes themes for your controls that I might be able to "plug in" for more variety, but didn't see anyone.  However I did see a holiday skin announcement from 2007, but no information on how to implement it.

I guess I won't be installing the upgrade until I am forced to do so.  There's no sense in upsetting the web site yet again unless there is a real benefit.

Steven,

The background images are available for many of the themes.

I'll investigate the background images for the new themes. Thanks.

Mehul - I'm appalled!!!!!!

I just 'upgraded' and all my background images are gone. Worse still, I've spent about 5 hours trying to figure out what I have done wrong - as well as annoy your support staff.

May I respectfully ask that you you re-instate the backgrounds asap and if necessary include the option to select not use them. That should keep everyone happy.

Glen,

Sorry that you had to go through that themes upgrade. Please take a look at this post and it may help explain our reasons and workaround for older themes:

Thanks.
