The next major release of DXperience and the ASPxGridView & Editors Library includes new controls, features and support for SharePoint! Here's the full list of juicy newness for ASP.NET:

SharePoint Support

Section 508 / WAI support

The ASPxperience Controls include support for Section 508 / WAI. More to come on this later.

ASP.NET Gauges

ASPxGauges – Big, beautiful Gauges for ASP.NET! Check out these stunning preview images.

New Controls

ASPxBinaryImage – A new control for displaying an image directly from database. Check out the introductory video that shows how this control works.

ASPxFilterControl for ASP.NET – Filter the ASPxGridView using complex filter criteria. To see a preview of this control, check out the ‘Introducing The Filter Control For ASP.NET’ video. The ASPxFilterControl will be integrated into the ASPxGridView. A standalone version will also be available as an ASPxEditor.

ASPxLoadingPanel –  A new control that is similar to the loading panel in many of our ASP.NET controls. This new standalone control can be customized, work in modal mode, supports client side events and works with any callbacks. Check the ASPxLoadingPanel Introduction video.

New Features

  • Copy/Paste From Microsoft Word – The HTML editor now supports pasting from a Microsoft Word document into the HTML editor.
  • Printing – Print directly from the HTML editor’s toolbar. Here’s a screenshot:

  • Optimized page loading speed (with ASPx controls)

The 2008 Volume 3 release is jam packed with a ton of new features and controls for your ASP.NET websites. If you’re anxious to try these features and controls then look for the beta release which will be out very soon. And, once released, you can find the beta installations in your client center accounts. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks. Btw, which new control and feature sounds the most exciting to you?

Can you add a Flash Video (FLV) playback support into your AspXObjectContainer, please?

Validation for ASPxEditors seems to be very interesting. Does this bring any kind of mask included?

I like the idea of printing directly from the ASPxHtmlEditor control, but the icon really should be the standard print icon.

Hi Laserson,

The ASPxObjectContainer supports flash with SWF and AVI. I believe you can create an swf that can play the flv files. But I'll check with the team and let you know.

Sorry the mask didn't make it into this release but you can track this suggestion for updates on when it'll be available: www.devexpress.com/issue=AS3032

Hi Brendon,

Thanks and I recommend creating a suggestion about the print  icon with a sample image Smile

What would be nice on the ASPxFilterControl would be to have each individual filter expression on a different line (obviously, make it optional through a property (ShowIndividualFilters?)).  Then, a checkbox could be show by each Individual filter which would allow a user to turn on and off different filters that they've specified without going back into the Popup editor all the time.

Does the UPload control support mulit-part so that it won't hit the arbitrary limit imposed on asp.net for upload?

Hi Timothy,

The ASPxFilterControl will have this capability. Smile
